Power Integrations introduced new LED T8 fluorescent lighting driver design

For energy-efficient power conversion industry leader in high-voltage integrated circuits Power Integrations, Inc. released two applications for T8 fluorescent lightings to replace high-efficiency, non-isolated, high power factor (PF) today LED driver reference design.

The new design is characterized by the use of a few components and simple core materials and single-sided circuit board design, the power density of the industry's leading 14.2W/in3 level. LED Driver Design from Power Integrations based on the Link Switch-PL Series IC devices LNK460KG, DER-337 (high voltage input) and DER-345 (low- input) in a detailed circuit description. Both drives are using a single-stage, non-isolated topology, and the drive behind the thickness of only 8mm- sufficient LED T8 fluorescent lighting installed.

Buck - Boost (DER-337) or buck (DER-345) is configured to provide more than 0.9 power factor and low THD, to meet EN61000-3-2C limits. This is designed to meet EMI standards, easily meet EN55015 (EMI) Class B specifications. The integrated single-stage driver IC can control the PFC and constant current output, so that the number of components is less than 30 designs. Both drives efficiency up to 92 %, respectively (DER-337) and 89% (DER-345), the output power are 20W (output voltage 85V, output current is 240mA).

Power Integrations Andrew Smith product marketing manager, said: "LED lamp market is moving to a non-isolated drive because this drive can improve system efficiency, while reducing the temperature of the drive components and the number of components used in these boards about isolated. Half of the design, and the efficiency of 3-4 % is usually higher than the latter because of a high PF and low THD, they are very suitable for ubiquitous commercial and industrial lighting applications. "

Power Integrations, Inc. provides high-voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient components and other high-voltage power conversion provider, headquartered in Silicon Valley. The company 's innovative technology that can help include TV, PC, home appliances, smart meters and LED lights, including a large number of electronic products designed compact, reliable AC-DC power supply.
