Hong Kong stimulates using LED Christmas lights in the interests of energy saving

Christmas is coming. The Hong Kong Lighting prepare many occasions. But Victoria Harbour and Tsim Sha Tsui East Tower still use more energy-consuming incandescent LED Christmas lamps for Christmas decorations, some environmental groups have suggested to switch to LED lighting to save electricity and energy.

To welcome Christmas, Victoria Harbour side of the building, will be specially decorated decorative night lights shining, but a large number of bulbs needed electricity is quite amazing. There are environmental groups found that 2009 East Tsim Sha Tsui and Victoria Harbour 24 is installed in a building lighting, 20 still using incandescent LED Christmas lamps for Christmas decorations, to open more than 6 hours per night, the power consumption during Christmas degree of over 1.62 million, equivalent to 366 four-person households annual electricity consumption, carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1,150 tons. The group suggested that buildings use more energy-efficient LED lights as exterior lighting, can save 80% electricity.

Of course, this LED usage also improved. Tai Po Environmental Association Projects and Development Officer He Haoxian said a similar survey conducted in 2008 found that 17 respondents buildings all use of incandescent LED Christmas lamps, while in 2009 the situation has improved, "existing four buildings have all use LED lights, and the other there are 2,3 seat while using incandescent LED Christmas lamps and LED lights, reflecting the company's environmental awareness. "But if all the buildings to switch to LED lights, the power consumption can be reduced 1.54 million degrees and reduce 1,101 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, "Although the price of LED lights compared to incandescent LED Christmas lamps 70% higher, but the life expectancy is up to 30,000 hours, and incandescent light bulbs life expectancy is only 2000 hours, after apportionment, LED lights cost expensive than incandescent light bulbs, "and can save power.

LED power consumption is very low; in general, LED's operating voltage is 2-3.6V. Operating current is 0.02-0.03A. That is to say: it does not exceed power consumption of 0.1W.  2007 launch of the mainstream white LED, with lumen value of about 60-90. Of the light-emitting efficiency is only 14-17.5lm / w efficiency of incandescent and 16-21lm / w halogen is concerned, this efficiency is extremely significant.
