USDA: Australia's 2013/14 wheat production
is down to 23.5 million tons
According to the U.S. Department of
Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service
Center released the latest Counselor report shows that 2013/14 ( October to
September ) Australian wheat production may be 23.5 million tons, down from an
earlier forecast of 24.5 million tons, higher than the 2012 / 13 year 's 22.1
million tons.
Counsellor expected 2013/14 Australian
wheat export volume of 18 million tons, compared with an earlier forecast of
18.5 million tons last year to 19.5 million tons. Where food, seed and
industrial use is projected at 300 million tons, the earlier forecast of 3.3
million tons, last year 320 million tons.
Counsellor expected 2013/14 Australian
wheat ending stocks at 280 million tons, compared with an earlier forecast of
300 million tons last year to 3.2 million tons.
According to the U.S. Department of
Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service Center released the latest Counselor
report shows that 2013/ 14 year (November to October) Australian barley
production forecast unchanged at 7.2 million tons. By contrast, last year's
actual production of 670 million tons.
Counsellor expected 2013/14 Australian
barley exports to 400 million tones, consistent with earlier forecasts; last
year was 380 million tons.
2013/14 ending stocks of barley in
Australia is estimated at 369,000 tons, down from an earlier forecast of
410,000 tons, last year was 21.9 million tons.
Senator Richard Colbeck has announced that
Australia's aquaculture industry has been significantly increased and now
accounts for almost half of the country’s fish production. Australian Bureau of Agricultural Resource
Economics and Science of the “Australian Fisheries Statistics 2012 annual report” shows that in the past decade
aquaculture fishery products in Australia, the share of revenue from 30% to
46%.
"Most of the growth can be attributed
to the rapid growth of the fish farming industry in 2011-2012, the production
of farmed salmon to become the largest groups of species, its revenue grew 20
percent and it is still Australia's highest yielding fishery products, worth $
513 million, " Mr baker, Cole said.
Colbeck Members said the report shows that
Australia’s total
fisheries production value growth of 3 percent to $ 2.3 billion. Australia's
domestic seafood consumption in the past 30 years has been on the rise,
Australians eat 25 kilograms per person per year seafood, higher than the world
average.
